Location

Weekuri Lake (Lagoon) is located in East Nusa Tenggara, the nearest province of Indonesia to Timor Leste. To be more precise, it is in the North Kodi sub-district, Southwest Sumb Regency.

You should choose Tambolaka Airport as the destination and book the airplane ticket because the airport is only 42 km away from the lake.

If you go from Tambaloka Airport to the lake by car, it only takes one to two hours to arrive. The rented car usually costs between IDR 500k and IDR 700k (including the driver), while a rented motorcycle only costs between IDR 100k and IDR 200k.

Since the path to the lake is not always good, if you use your own car or private vehicle (not rent), it is advised to use a jeep or a car with high power capacity.

Raft maybe is one of the best facilities that are available in the lake. You can pay only IDR 20k to explore the beautiful lake with it.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit the lake is in the afternoon when the weather is sunny or clear because you can enjoy a beautiful sunset view. Don’t take a risk visiting the lake when the weather is rainy or stormy. For your information, the operational hour of the lake is 08.00 a.m. till 05.00 p.m. (GMT+8).

If you are interested in studying a cultural event, make sure to visit the lake in February or March. During these months, the citizens of Sumba hold “Pasola” which is part of the Marapu traditional ceremony.
